Back from Ibadan/Lagos

I got back from Nigeria two days ago and I have to say that this weekend was the most enjoyable weekend since my wedding. I had so much fun!. The weding was in Ibadan, which I have not visited since 1998. My friend's wedding was a blast, and I was asked to do the toast, which I ended up giving a long speech...

I travelled via virginnigeria and the experience was terrible, I will never travel with the airline again. Richard Branson, has definately lost a customer. To start with, the flight was delayed for 4hrs, with a similar british airways flight to Nigeria leaving on time. When you arrive at the airport, you have to go weigh your bags and have it tagged with the weight sizes, then you go to another counter to convert your eticket to a paper ticket; then you go off to the check-in desk to actually check in. Be warned this takes 2 hrs from arriving at the airport itself. While I was waiting for the delayed 4hrs flight, I met a naija guy, we started a conversation on my ipod and I asked him what he was doing to do in naija, he said he was an aspiring actor and wanted to make home video. So guys, watch out for kenny's film in the near future. I also saw someone from the Bruce family, but I saw too shy to walk up to him and have a chat. Kenny did though; and he said the guy was nice.

Back to virginnigeian horribe staffs. At the boarding area, after being delayed for 4hrs, someone made an announcement for a passenger and actually said " Can mrs...whose name that is difficult to pronounce please come to the service desk" I did not actually hear the announcement, but my friend - Kenny did. He went up to the service desk to complain and when he told me, I was furious, hard to comprehend. We were treated like animals and charity cases. Can you imgine being treated like that on a british airways flight? Shocking! Anyway, that was the low lights of the whole trip. Also, before I forget, the flight was also delayed on my way back sunday night for 3hs.

Has anyone had a bad experience with virginnigeria? we have to stand up and make them take notice of their horrible staff and bad service! The airline is becoming a re-incarnation of Nigeriaairways.

So far, I've used Virgin Atlantic to Lagos... and it's been okay. I went in Jan and July and the trips to and from Lagos were ok.

I have heard a couple of bad things about Virgin Nigeria - luggage being lost, flight delays, flights moved to the next morning! But the thing is people are still flying Virgin Nigeria because quite a number of people are okay with the delays and some have not even experienced anything too bad...

4 hour delay at the airport... I'll be so restless!

As for that announcement, that idiot should be fired.

Yes oh,

I agree. I was going to take it up with a friend that works for virgin nigeria, back in Lagos, but you these things are, you just let it go... naija style.
